Dear TIS Families,
As we embark on a new academic year, I want to extend a warm welcome to both our returning families and those who are new to our community. Whether your child has been with us for years or is just starting their journey at TIS, we are thrilled to have you as part of our school.
Over the past two decades, TIS has evolved and grown in so many wonderful ways, yet our core mission remains the same - to provide a nurturing, innovative and holistic learning environment that empowers our students to become lifelong learners, and active contributors to our global community. This unwavering commitment has been the driving force behind the exceptional educational experience we offer.
At TIS, we foster a holistic learning environment that inspires our students to pursue their passions. We lead the way with our innovative approaches to learning and teaching, creating an immersive environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a belief in one's potential. This includes leveraging our state-of-the-art facilities and technologies, as well as being at the cutting edge of the latest teaching methodologies.
Our steadfast commitment to supporting our students' aspirations, both educational and personal, has resulted in an exceptional track record of success. Over the past 20 years, hundreds of our students have graduated and gone to secure admission at top-ranked universities around the world. Our alumni network is a testament to the academic excellence fostered at TIS, as our graduates go on to excel locally and internationally, regularly receiving prestigious accolades and awards that make the Macao community proud.
One of the highlights of our school year is our longstanding "Experience Week" program, which we are proud to offer to students from grades 4 through 12. Last year, this learning opportunity was a resounding success, as our students embarked on immersive journeys, travelling abroad, surrounding themselves in different cultures, and engaging in hands-on, experiential learning. These experiences not only broadened their horizons but also instilled in them a deep sense of global citizenship and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world.
Aligned with our mission "to develop socially responsible, lifelong learners able to problem-solve, think critically, and make positive changes in our global community," we place a strong emphasis on community involvement and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Through our "Community in Action" initiatives (previously known as Activist in Residence Program), our students put their skills and knowledge into practice, working together to address local and global challenges.
As we look ahead to the 2024/2025 school year, we are excited to welcome 16 new highly qualified teachers to our staff, with an average of over 10 years of teaching experience from 20 different countries around the world. Their diverse backgrounds and wealth of international experience will further enrich the learning environment at TIS.
